Microblading

  • Microblading
  • Microshading
  • Brow Tinting
  • Tattoo Correction

What is it?
Microblading is a semi-permanent technique used to enhance your natural brows. Pigment  is implanted into the skin with a bladed hand held tool, making tiny incisions/strokes that resemble hair. Unlike traditionally tattooed eyebrows, where ink is used to give a solid, less natural appearance,  Microblading gives the illusion of real hair, which is why it is ideal for those with alopecia, thinning hair, people who have gone through chemotherapy, or for those on the quest for that “I woke up like this” look.  Colour and desired shape are pre- approval by you before the service begins. The procedure takes anywhere from 2-3 hours, so come prepared.
Microshading takes it one step further to provide a more defined/bolder look, that lasts 6-9 months longer.

Does it hurt?
Pain is relative and vary from person to person. The sensation is similar to that of a slight scratch. The incision is made in the epidermis (top layer of skin), so pain is minimal to non existent. Numbing gel is applied for overly sensitive persons. After the first passing, the gel is applied for a more comfortable experience. Once done, some redness and slight swelling in the area is expected. Clients may take Tylenol, not Aspirin or Ibuprofen (thins the blood and may prolong bleeding).
Persons who are not good candidates for Microblading:
  • Pregnant or Nursing
  • Diabetic (require Physician’s note)
  • Viral infections and/or diseases
  • Epileptic
  • A Pacemaker or major heart problems
  • Had an organ transplant
  • Has keloids
  • Seborrheic dermatitis
  • Skin irritations or Psoriasis near the treated area (rashes, sunburn, acne, etc.)
  • Sick (cold, flu, etc.)
  • Had Botox, Tanning or Chemical Peel in the past 4 weeks
  • Used Accutane in the past year
  • Allergic to anesthetic (Lidocaine), Prilocaine, Benzocaine, Tetracaine or Epinephrine
  • Extremely Oily or Problematic Skin- (Microshading recommended)

PRE-CARE
  • NO alcohol or caffeine 48 hours before procedure (Yes, there is caffeine in decaf coffee and tea!).
  • Avoid sun bathing and tanning beds one week prior to procedure.
  • Do not take Aspirin, Niacin, Vitamin E or Advil/Ibuprofen 48 hours before procedure.
  • Avoid Fish Oil, Prenatal Vitamins, Nutritional Shakes (Shakeology, etc), “Hair, Skin, Nail” supplements 48 hours prior to procedure.
  • Discontinue Retin-A at least 4 weeks prior
  • Refrain from using Alpha Hydroxy Acid (AHA) products close to the eyebrow area 2 weeks prior.
  • Botox and fillers on the forehead, temple, and eye area should be avoided 1 month prior to procedure for those who do not regularly receive injectables.
  • No brow waxing, tinting, or threading one week prior.
  • Avoid Chemical Peels, Microdermabrasion or facials for 4-weeks prior procedure.

POST-CARE
  • Within 2 hours of the procedure, clean brows using a q-tip with non alcoholic soap. Gently wipe away the old healing balm / Aquaphor and any lymphatic liquid (clear yellowish liquid) that may have built up. Gently pat dry with tissue and use a new q-tip re-apply healing balm/ Aquaphor to the brows. Avoid use of abrasive washcloths or sponges
  • Make sure to apply a light layer of healing balm morning and night to brows for at least 5 days.
  • Do not put makeup on the brow area for a minimum of 7 days. Microbladed area is an open wound, using makeup may cause infections.
  • Avoid alcohol, aspirin/ibuprofen and any vitamins that may thin your blood for 24 hours.
  • No face scrubs or chemical peels for at least 2 weeks.
  • Avoid pool, sauna, steam rooms, hot showers and/or hot baths for 3 weeks.
  • Avoid sweating for a full 10 days. Any physical activity, gym, hot weather or any other activity that may cause sweating through or on the brows will expel pigment from the dermis, producing poor results.
  • Avoid sleeping on your face/brows for the first 10 days.
  • Keep your bangs and hair pulled back from your face for the first 10 days.
  • Brow area will feel slightly itchy as it heals and will lightly scab over. Do not peel or pick at the scabs as this can affect the final result and pigmentation.
  •  Once completely healed, consider using sunblock to stop the colour from fading.

It is recommended that clients schedule their Microblading appointment at least 3-4 months in advance of vacations, weddings or special events. This allows adequate time for healing of both your initial Microblading appointment as well as the 6-8 week touch-up session. Some clients may need multiple sessions to achieve their desired density and shape. Eyebrows will appear darker and bolder due to natural healing process for the first 2 weeks, however the colour will fade and soften 20%-40%.  So be patient, even if you think too much colour has faded significantly, just remember that your skin is still regenerating and naturally exfoliating.

There are no implied or written guarantees if you do not follow the above pre & post care instructions!
